This past weekend, the spouse, the teenager, and I went to The Orchid Show at the the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx, which runs through April 22.
What a great way to spend a spring day!
Here are some of my favorite photographs from our outing.
(Note: If any of you know what species of orchid each of these are -- maybe some nice person at the New York Botanical Garden? -- please let me know! I know the third shot is some kind of Lady Slipper Orchid, and I think the ones with the spotted "tongues" are Cymbidiums. But with over 20,000 species of Orchidaceae, and surrounded by a crowd of fellow orchid lovers, all trying to take pictures, it was kind of hard to see or remember all the names.)
And the elusive Felis catus, spotted on Arthur Avenue. (The teenager wanted an espresso.)
For those of you who live in or near New York City, or will be visiting
in the next few weeks, I highly recommend you go to The Orchid Show.
