A Jets fan's AFC playoff game prayer

[Scroll down the page to see A Jets Fan's Prayer for this Sunday's AFC Championship Game between the Jets and the Pittsburgh Steelers. GO JETS!]

In honor of tonight's NFL AFC Wild Card Playoff Game between the 11-5 New York Jets (of New Jersey) and the 10-6 Indianapolis Colts* (at 8 p.m. ET on NBS), I have composed the following prayer for Jets fans to recite before the big game.

A Jets Fan's AFC Wild Card Playoff Prayer

Our Jets team, which art in Indy,
hallowed be thy defense.
Thy offense come.
Thy will be done
on the Colts,
as it was on the Bills and the Steelers.
Give us tonight our first post-season win,
and forgive us our penalties and interceptions,
as we block and tackle those who seek to score against us.
Lead us not into defeat,
but deliver us unto the Super Bowl.
Amen.

UPDATED 1/16/11 in honor of today's big AFC divisional playoff game between the New York Jets (of New Jersey) and the New England Patriots (of Tom Brady):

A Jets Fan's AFC Divisional Playoff Prayer

Our Jets team, which art in Foxborough,
hallowed be thy defense.
Thy offense must run.
Thy blocking be done
on the Pats,
as it was on the Colts and the Bills.
Give us this afternoon our next playoff win,
and forgive us our penalties and interceptions,
as we block and tackle those who seek to score against us.
Lead us not into defeat,
but deliver us unto the Super Bowl.
Amen.

UPDATED 1/19/11 as I begin my next vigil, praying for yet another Jets win, this time at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh this Sunday, January 23. (Hey, the other two worked. Maybe a three's a charm. Or not.)

A Jets Fan's AFC Championship Game Prayer

Our Jets team, which art in Pittsburgh,
hallowed be thy defense.
Thy offense must run.
Thy blocking be done
on the Steelers,
as it was on the Colts and Pats.
Give us this Sunday our next big win,
and forgive us our penalties and interceptions,
as we block and tackle those who seek to score against us.
Lead us not into defeat,
but deliver us unto the Super Bowl.
Amen.

J-E-T-S, goooooo Jets!

Rex Ryan has promised to sniff every fan's feet if the Jets win. After all, isn't that why they call it football?

Hey J,
A wild-CARDBOARD Tuesday for Ted Williams
was the first step in an amazing journey so ANYTHING is possible!

I am rooting for Seattle (7-9) against the defending Super Bowl champion, New Orleans Saints (11-5), at 1:30 today to start the playoffs.

Here is a great 96-second NFL promo
to get you pumped up for the day!

Mazel tov on the Jets victory.

I only hope that the K-man and J-3-O were able to hide all the sharp objects and breakables from you after the Colts field goal long enough for you to witness your team's glorious march to victory.

By the way, I have officially retired from the NFL prognostication business. *sigh*

@john barker: Rex must be in Heaven. ;-)

@HasTheVoice: Hope you made some money on the Seattle game, cause I sure didn't.

@Edward: Thanks for the mazel tov. Have a feeling you won't be saying that next week if my Jets beat your Patriots. And yes, the spouse had to calm me down after Vinatieri kicked that amazing field goal (which I knew he would make). That said, the spouse also picked the Colts over the Jets in the playoff bracket, so we were torn -- or he was. (I was rooting for the Jets.)
