I think this line from Gail Collins' NYT column yesterday, "The Revenge of Levi," pretty much sums up the situation:
Actually, I can imagine something worse, Gail: discovering that the Republican candidate for President has given a national platform to a former hockey mom from Alaska who thinks she's an expert on foreign affairs because she can see Russia from her window. (As more than one person infamously quipped in response, "I can see the moon from my window. Does that make me an effing astronaut?")Given the fact that Johnston is a 19-year-old high school dropout whose mother was arrested last year on six felony drug counts, it is conceivable that he is not the perfect arbiter of normal families. But even if he were an Eagle Scout with a scholarship to Harvard, can you imagine anything worse than discovering your daughter’s teenage ex-boyfriend has been given a national platform to discuss his impressions of her mom’s parenting skills?
But getting back to Levi Johnston, the Grandbaby Daddy, who has about as much credibility as Joe the Plumber (okay, maybe a bit more when it comes to the Palin family), Sarah Palin created this monster by dragging him into the national spotlight in the first place. (And I will not get into the Family Palin's hypocritical support of abstinence only education here. But let this be a lesson to all you mom's reading this: You could wind up being a grandma in your 40s, with a grandbaby daddy like Levi, if you don't educate your daughters properly about sex.)
And unlike Sarah Palin, Levi Johnston was dragged somewhat unwillingly into the media's glare. So really, she only has herself to blame. Though, like Gail Collins, I almost feel sorry for her. Almost.
This just in: Levi has apparently agreed to pose for Playgirl, albeit in skivvies. And no, I will not be checking out his spread.

Nice to see you are getting political again. Sorry you missed all the Joe Bidenisms. Cash for Clunkers and now the whole Courtney Cox "I pledge my myself..." to Obama. Or how about the "if anyone doesn't like the idea of government run health care then they are racists". Or this one: The democratic party used Cindey Sheehan to help get her elected then totally dropped the whole anti war movement from their repetory. Ask Cindy why she is no longer a registered democrat. Also why she no longer ghets national attention. Not even when she goes to Martha's Vineyard to demonstrate against Obama. There is plenty of material out there but you just pick on Sarah? The only negative thing I have read here about Obama has to do with the overdue tee shirt order. Are you afraid of being labeled a racist perhaps?
Clearly you missed my post re Obama promoting truancy and harming innocent animals.

How about Van Jones or the curious case of Ways and Means Chairman Charlie Rangel forgetting to pay taxes? Plenty of material out there.
Levi Johnston is way cuter than Charlie Rangel, though Van Jones ain't too rough on the eyes.

It's amazing. That an imbecile like this failed ex-governor can mention something as idiotic as "Death Panels" and in the next instance it is a serious part of the national dialogue. Why are the American people so susceptible to such blatant propaganda? I have a theory if you're interested in hearing it:

I don't know about you, but I'm loving the Sarah Palin/Levi Johnson saga/soap opera. And to think that only one year ago, the geniuses on the Republican National Committee deemed her to be the best choice to be "a seventy-two-year-old heartbeat away from the presidency".
Are you surprised that the "party of Lincoln" is imploding? Are you stunned that America has become the laughingstock of the industrialized world? You shouldn't be. You really shouldn't.
