Yet another reason to love Steve Martin (especially if you are an Atheist)

Some love Steve Martin as that wild and crazy guy from Saturday Night Live.

Others love Steve Martin as the singer of "King Tut."

Still others love Steve Martin for his all-natural Penis Beauty Cream.

And there are those who love Steve Martin for his amazing bluegrass banjo playing. (Seriously, is there nothing this man cannot do?)

Now, God love him, Steve Martin is courting another group, Atheists, with the first ever gospel song created just for Atheists, called "Atheists Don't Have No Songs," performed by Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers on Austin City Limits. (Hat tip to the Huffington Post.) I swear, watching this converted me -- to a Steve Martin fan.

I have a friend who has seen Martin play at a couple of blue grass festivals. Says he's fantastic.

Looooveeeeee this one! Not sure how the mainstream bluegrass crowds would take it though. In spite of the urbangrass Jewbillies (David Grisman, David Bromberg, etc...) Bluegrass has a very strong secular tradition... Martin nails the whole gospel quartet thing with such authenticity... Bravo!

As a longtime Steve Martin fan I was always partial to this little number.

Also, big shout-out to Rochester PBS station WXXI - woo! (You'll never guess what its original UHF channel number was.)

Yes, Steve Martin is amazing. He writes novels too.

Novelist, yes. And screenwriter. And art collector. It almost makes one forgive all those hack roles in bad comedies. After all, bills must be paid! ;-)

Bahahaha! I loved this for so many reasons. One of them being that there's a rumor circulating the Mormon community that Steve Martin is a Mormon...apparently not!
