Since my last book post at the end of last year, I've been on a bit of a reading tear, and have added many books to my reading list thanks to all of you who posted or emailed book recommendations.
Herewith, six more great books to add to your reading list (listed in the order I read them):
Tears of Mermaids: The Secret Story of Pearls by Stephen G. Bloom
The Blind Side by Michael Lewis
The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner
The Great Man by Kate Christensen
The Marriage Bureau for Rich People by Farahad Zama
The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery
Btw, the first three are non-fiction, though don't let that stop you from picking them up. The stories and characters are amazing.
Note: I also read Dan Brown's latest, The Lost Symbol, and was disappointed. While a quick read (despite its length) I found it predictable, flawed, and unnecessarily violent/gruesome.
Wishing you all good reading...

Thanks for the recommendations! I'll add these to my list. Just about to start The Sugar Queen and Julia Child's My Life in France is queued up as well.
Thanks for the list! I have too many to add but I would throw out Like Water for Elephants... it was a really good story!
I wish I had the time to read and check these all out! It took me 3 months to read the last book! Have to quit my job and leave my family!!! I have the "Help" all ready to go, heard it was great. I will let you know.
J2 is a voracious reader. She just gobbles the books up. J3 takes after her. Both of them leave me in the dust; however, loved the "Blind Side" which J2 bought for me for the holidays (because it worked real well on multiple levels and wasn't just a Hallmark Hall of Fame story), and am enjoying the "Geography of Bliss" (which I bought for J2), as I'm a sucker for journey books (we both loved Bryson's "In a Sunburned Country").
Cool, some new books to add to my list. I read The Elegance of the Hedgehog last year for book club and agree it is a great read! I just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy - a haunting and unsettling tale, and Runaway by Alice Munro which is a fabulous collection of short stories. Reco both highly!
