Whoa Nellie! Rachel Alexandra first filly in 85 years to win the Preakness!

What a race! What a horse! Wow.

Rachel Alexandra was not only the first filly since Nellie Morse to win the Preakness Stakes, she was the first ever horse in the 13th post position to do so. Calvin Borel is one lucky -- and amazing -- jockey.

Kudos also to Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird, ridden by Mike Smith, who came in second in today's 134th running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico.

Wow. Just Wow.

Girl power!

Guess it proves that quality horses (no matter the sex) should compete together-what a race. Stuff that 'fillies should only compete with other fillies' 'tude!

Mine That Bird was totally in it-two more strides...who knows?...photofinish?

So exciting!!!

Great race! Imagine the winners of the Kentucky Oaks and the Kentucky Derby battling down the stretch to finish 1st and 2nd! I don't think that has ever happened before. And, after some of the tragic events of the last few years, just happy that none of those beautiful animals injured themselves. The Belmont is shaping up to be very interesting!

I am personally hoping for a Rachel Alexandra - Mine That Bird rematch at the Belmont, Marindenver, or at least for Rachel Alexandra to take the field -- and once again prove that a filly can outrun the boys.

Dunno, may be less about the horses and more about the jockey .. I'll take whoever Bo-rail is riding to win the Belmont.

Rachel Alexandra's trainer said he wasn't sure if she would run in the Belmont Stakes. In which case, I would guess that Calvin Borel will be riding Mine That Bird again. Would be a shame if she didn't run, though.
