Finally, some GOOD news!

I love Jimmy Fallon's feel-good segments on The Tonight Show. And I particularly loved this segment he ran last night titled "I've Got Good News and Good News," where he asked local NBC news anchors from around the country to read stories that would make us happy.

Thank you, Jimmy Fallon. I needed that. And I look forward to the next installment, where that guy who said he would call you, does, and we find out that brownies are, in fact, good for us.

If only local news made us happy every night.

The real musical hits of the summer?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we've all heard Icona Pop's "I Love It," Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines," and Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" dozens of times. (Or in my case, hundreds.) But I bet you've never seen them like this!

First up, Sesame Street's Cookie Monster covers Icona Pop's "I Love It" with "Me Want It (But Me Wait)":

Next, Jimmy Fallon and the Roots join Robin Thicke for the classroom instruments version of "Blurred Lines":

I only have two questions: 1) What, no scantily dressed teachers, boys? 2) What exactly is that guy in the corner doing with that banana? (I also enjoyed Jimmy Kimmel and Guillermo's version of "Blurred Lines." Thank God they kept their clothes on.)

And finally my favorite, Stephen Colbert and friends "performing" Daft Punk's "Get Lucky."

I can't wait to see Stephen Colbert perform with the Rockettes in the Radio City Christmas Spectacular! (That man can kick!)

The Evolution of Mom Dancing

Friend of the blog David T. posted this video titled "Evolution of Mom Dancing," featuring Jimmy Fallon and First Lady Michelle Obama, on his Facebook page, and I just had to share.

(Wow, I never realized how much I looked like Jimmy Fallon, or danced like him.)

Okay, ladies, now shake your hips twice, same side, and let's all do just the hands part of "Single Ladies." And be sure to share your new dance moves with your daughter. ;-)

Jimmy Fallon, Brian Williams slow jam the debt ceiling

Only Jimmy Fallon and Brian Williams (aka Brilly Willy and Honey Bri Bri) could make singing about the debt ceiling sexy. Ooooh yeah.

Among my favorite lines in "Slow Jam the News: Fiscal Cliff*":

"Ain't nothing worse than a soft Boehner."

"Our economy could really use a shot in the arm. Sounds like a job for Lance Armstrong."

"How was third grade for you, Jimmy?"

"Fifty shades of Brian Williams."

Though they are not nearly as funny taken out of context.

For another amusing (albeit non-sexual) explanation of the debt ceiling, check out my post titled "Everything you need to know about the debt ceiling... clearly explained in just over three minutes."

*Just curious: Is this Fiscal Cliff any relation to Jimmy Cliff? ;-)

All I want for Christmas is...

Jimmy Fallon (and the Roots) making annoying Christmas songs listenable again.

Yes, folks, Jimmy Fallon has done the impossible. He has made me like Mariah Carey's overplayed, oversung Christmas song "All I Want for Christmas Is You" likeable again. Even more amazing, he has made Mariah Carey likeable. (The producers of American Idol should send Fallon a check.)

Check out this great Late Night "Music Room" version of "All I Want for Christmas Is You," performed by Jimmy Fallon, The Roots, Mariah Carey, and a bunch of adorable elementary school kids.

Take that, Justin Bieber!

Jimmy and the POTUS slow jam the news

Jimmy Fallon and President Barack Obama slow jam the news about student loans (at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill).

Pell yeah!

Am amazed the Prezie of the United Stezie (aka the POTUS with the mostest) kept a straight face -- and bummed he didn't sing with The Roots...

So when is Mitt Romney slow jammin' the news with Jimmy Fallon?

Rapping with Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon (video)

Last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Fallon and guest Justin Timberlake performed an "impromptu" three-minute ode to or history of hip hop/rap music, starting with the Sugarhill Gang's classic "Rapper's Delight" from 1979 and ending with Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind." And I think it's fair to say that this video clip provides yet more proof why white boys should not be allowed to perform hip hop or rap music, at least not on live national TV (though the bit was pretty funny, albeit probably not to The Roots, Fallon's hip hop backup band).

I love you Justin and Jimmy, but you, sirs, are no Sugarhill Gang.
