Nice pair (plus an "amazing" short video)

Don't they look luscious? Mm mm.

What? You were expecting something else?

Well, I promised you something "amazing," and here it is: a clip I happened upon this week of my new favorite comedian, Louis C. K., on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, talking about how everything is amazing (i.e., we have all this great technology that was invented to make our lives easier and better, which didn't or barely existed not that long ago), yet no one seems happy.

Btw, if you liked this clip and want to see more, go to YouTube and do a search for "Louis C. K."

I will now, in honor of May Day, dance around a pole and worship Flora.

That was a funny clip! I love his comment of the man cursing because his Wifi on the airplane went out for a minute: "[we] think the world owes us something we didn't know existed until 2 minutes ago."

But the worst example of "slow" things he came up with was rotary phones? (members of my family still have and use these!)

How about typewriters? I remember using a manual typewriter in grade school (as in you pushed the metal pole at the end of each line)! My teachers considered me a visionary because I was the only kid who could type!

And what about carbon copies? Copying machines were not used widely. And those purple-ink mimeographed hand outs we received school that everyone immediately sniffed? (the 70's version of huffing!)

How about black and white TV's with three channels and rabbit ears? When HBO was invented, anyone who "paid for it" was considered rich!

Soon I'll be telling my young daughters how I walked 5 miles to school in the snow barefoot! (Or more accurately, took the 86th cross-town bus to school and had to (gasp) stand!)

You tell 'em, girl! I still remember being over the moon when I got my first electric typewriter. And I LOVED the mimeograph machine. Ooo... purple. But forget HBO. What about basic CABLE?! Which was supposed to have NO COMMERCIALS because you paid a subscription (kind of like today's satellite radio). And for the record, while I did take the Madison Ave. bus to school when I was younger, I often walked the mile when I was in high school, even in the snow. Of course, that was before there were Segways and motorized scooters. ; )

That clip was amazing because:

- he's very funny

-- he's absolutely right

--- the entire clip was rated PG

J - wonderful post, very refreshing after a 14 hour day.

I've seen/heard Louis CK before - funny! He's spot on with his assessment of the "millennial" generation who expect instant gratification and whine when they don't get it. I'd like to smack them upside the head with a rotary phone, crap, the cord won't stretch that far!

Mmmm, pears.

LMAO, EMM. : ) Thanks for the kind words (towards me). And I 100% agree with you -- ditto Powa.
